I’ve just finished a novel with a fiercely unconventional and darkly kooky antiheroine, described by others as akin to a grown-up Pippi Longstocking of children’s literature. She reminded me of Bethany — a private person who shares who she is in small bits and pieces. Over time I hope to know this young women who hugged my neck only minutes after describing my comment to a store clerk as “mean”. But if you know me, you must realize she was probably right. I like her a lot.
Judy and I were in Greensboro for a delightful visit, catching both Christopher and Bethany on the same day off (not always easily done). They have worked hard on the house and yard. The “college appartment” look is gone. And there is Mac, who likes to say hello with a enthusiastically delivered wet puppy kiss.
I did ask for and was granted an opportunitiy to take a few photos of the “family” (without cats). So here is Christopher, Bethany and Mac.
